We have a small, non for profit theater in NYC. Someone told me we can get theater critics to come to our show -- any ideas as to how to make this happen?

Simply send them an invitation via e-mail or a letter
in care of their publication. Most newspapers &
magazines have this info readily available.
Tell them about your theater, it's mission statement
and the current production. Include any information
you think might be useful/newsworthy.
Tell them you will have two (2) FREE tickets waiting
for them at the box office so they can bring a friend [if
they've got one!]. It's best to not mention a specific
date, but give them options for early in the run as
most critics can only attend so many shows per
week.
Critics in our town will not review a show if the run is
less than four weeks.
I'd suggest researching their reviews first. Some
critics are more generous than others. Don't invite
trouble.

Good advice from Topper, particularly with respect to
the two comps and researching their reviews first.
We're in a very small community with a weekly
newspaper, but the paper's theatre critic is also
published in a regional daily. Fortunately for us, the
critic is a big promoter of community theatre
throughout the area.
