Has anyone done The Lion The Witch and the Wardrobe adapted by Glynn Robbins? I am looking for a script with a little more depth and interest than the one by Joseph Robinette.

I've looked into doing this one, from Samuel French London, right?

I've checked with them and it is not open for production in the United States right now.

I was in the same boat you're in.

We did the musical version by Dramatic Publishing:  http://www.dramaticpublishing.com/p1031/Narnia/product_info.html

Here are some photos of our production from a few years ago with 5th and 6th grade actors.  http://www.sjwillis.com/photo-gallery.htm

I rented a few nice backdrops and built some simple wagons and flying flats.  A good kids show.  We may do it again some day.

Our CT kid's branch recently did the Don Quinn dramatization available from Dramatic Publishing Co.  If you're looking for depth and interest, I'd skip the Quinn version.

It's a short 2-act, topping out at maybe 40 minutes. We added some extra words here and there, and stretched out the battle scene, but even with a 15 minute intermission, we were in and out in just over an hour.

What was most disappointing was the adaptation itself.  Yes, they had to cut a lot to fit in 40 minutes, but some of the main points of the book (IMO) are completely missing.  There's no real development of the "redemption of Edmund" angle, no development of the Aslan character (he shows up in the battle, that's all), and so the whole Aslan-for-Edmund trade with the White Witch, Aslan's death at the Stone Table, and his return is all missing.  The climax was "Aslan and the good forest creatures fight the White Witch and her army for the freedom of Narnia."  The denoument was done via a narration right at the end.

Thanks for the advice and suggestions. We are going with the Robinette version and counting on the actor's creativity and characterization  to give the interest and depth that is missing in the script. Smile
