If you want just a breakup gobo or a sharper defined leaf imaged 'fergo' used by selecon Pacific lanterns, which are plastic mylar.

Old pie & food tins were a great resource, unfortunately these days they are made of aluminium, which burns too easily.

When I was wee tacker of about 9 or so. I made my own theatre lights, from large baby food cans. they made a great flood because they were reflective tinned on the inside. I cut the bottom out of the can & stuck gel over the bottom opening. Using the top to mount the bayonet cap light fitting for the globe. Which made it easier to change the colour, by swapping the gelled cans to the tops.

Also the old Printers off set foil plates, made great gobo's. as it was easy to transfer the drawn image, using carbon paper, then cutting it out. The hi cup know the plates are actually made of paper.

Even made up Glass Gob's back in the 50's, by exposing photographic negatives on to the glass. They were not that sharp an image, as to what they produce these days, but at that time, we put up with a little bit of fuzzing.

Also using modern ducting plate, with all the holes in it. Works great with the zoom Profiles, as the dual lens gives a rainbow  to each of the plate holes. There is a lot of industrial mesh which works as a good effect as well.
