Welcome Keegan.
I can?t remember Pippin as such! Also I?m not up with the requirements of Flickermaster fire effects or Twin Spin. [sounds like a washing machine 2 speed clothes drier]
I have always produced my own low tech fire effects. Using the old fluro starters in series, gobo?s or fans with material & lights.
But if you can give some further info I?m sure there is enough Techies here that can offer suggestions &/or advice to help out.

Fire effects must be very careful and have someone qualified to run real fire if you're using it.  Otherwise, it's lites only.  The burning of Pippin in the end - we used a FIRE BOX which was a rectangular frame only upright box with solid looking back - ala' some magician's type illusion - where Pippin would enter the box, the front and sides of which was FLASH PAPER, he would enter the box, door of flash paper closed behind him (we see his sillouette inside)....then the flash paper was set off, burns completely away leaving a frame only, curtain is raised in front of the box, dropped and he has reappeared IN the framed box unharmed.

What they did was build a four sided box, the frame on three sides were only a frame, the back had a compartment so that when he goes IN the box after we see his sillouette, curtain is raised, a back door opens and he goes in a fireproof compartment inside this framed (solid looking back).  Curatin is dropped, then the flash paper is ignited, burns completely away really fast, looks like he's gone completely. THEN the curtain is raised again, he comes out of the fireproof back compartment, and curtain is dropped and he has reappeared.  All pretty basic magic illusion with deep backed box which is a fireproof compatment.

Again unless you're a pyrotechnician playing with real fire is a hazard and one that must not be taken lightly. We were lucky enough to have a union guy who WAS a pyro and he set it up every night.  But if you have limitations to lights only, then you'll have to settle for flicker lamps or gobos of some kind.  You COULD try that silk "flame" business where a fan operated from beneath makes the silk "flame" look real. See the film Phantom Of The Opera and near the end when he aducts Christine from the stage - they have this silk fabric that is shaped like flames and it flickers.  Cool idea - may be practical.

Good luck.

the Gam twin spin is not a pryo effect it is a gobo roatator. I have found that the right gobos can make a pretty good looking fire effect. the motion really sells it. I haven't used the flickermaster.

Any gobo roater will work in this case. I like one that will hold a glass gobo and a metal. Rosco and Apollo make some glass gobos for this very effect. They are a blend of reds and ambers. You can use the same trick to do water effect with different gobos. If you hang the fixture almost right on top of the actor you will get that bathed in flame look.

Good luck

I have a production of Pippin opening tonight. I can't stress enough the other posts regarding the use of fire without proper training. A few seasons ago the fire inspector stopped our attempt to use a flash pot, since no one was properly licensed.

Since we lost our Pyro guy we had to go low tech on Pippin and had a tube built into the box so we could pump some smoke into the chamber from an offstage fog machine. The actor did use a real torch so people understood it was a fire.

It's not as cool as a real flame but you do what you can.
