I love the dialog from "Shakespeare in Love" - I keep it at the
top of my website LOL "Allow me to explain about the theatre business.? The natural condition is one of insurmountable obstacles on the road to imminent disaster" " What do we do?" " Nothing.? Strangely enough it all turns out well." " How?" " I don't know. It's a mystery." ??? |

No - the quote only 'works' if you truly know that it's absolutely not true. LOL |

A cast without a crew is just a bunch of people standing in the dark
reading their lines. A crew without a cast is just a bunch of people pushing buttons and moving furniture. |

"Dying is easy. Comedy is hard." Attributed to Edmond Gwenn. And Hamlet's Advice to the Players should be posted in every green room in the world. |

Also a fan of: "Truth! Your performance- the pauses, the moans, all that you clearly consider invaluable- it's utterly appalling. We must never confuse truth with asthma." -John Barrymore in I Hate Hamlet |

"Method acting? There are quite a few methods. Mine involves a lot of talent, a glass and some cracked ice." John Barrymore "My dear boy, if you would learn to act, you wouldn't have to put yourself through all that." Sir Laurence Olivier to Dustin Hoffman regarding Hoffman's Method Acting during Marathon Man. (Possibly approcyphal, but a great story... supposedly in order to prepare for a scene where he's been up all night, Hoffman stayed up all night... prior to the scene being shot, Olivier asked Hoffman "what's the matter with you?" After Hoffman explained, he got the above quote in reply. Authentic or not, I love it.) |
