A modern-day take on the Blithe Spirit theme, this time with the soon-to-be-newlywed wife the one to see and hear the ghost of her former spouse. Very funny, with a lovely ending. |

Neil Simon's hilarious modern-day retelling of the story of Job. Joe Benjamin's life is turned upside-down when God decides to test his faith by sending him not only trials and tibulations, but a nebbish angel named Sydney. A showpiece of Simon style, with the one-liners flying fast and furious! The set is a challenge, but fun when you pull it off -- Joe's house burns down at the end of the first act, and the second act takes place among the charred ruins of his former home. We got gasps and applause every night when the curtains opened to reveal the change. Set change also requires a crack stage crew.

Two-man show can be expanded to to be played by more than two, but it's best with just two. The duo plays all the inhabitants of Tuna, Texas, from Petey Fisk, animal-lover, to Bertha Buemiller, matriarch of the highly disfunctional Buemuller clan. Minimal set; a very portable show, and pretty much the standard against which we compare all other Southern-fried comedies.
