Classic thriller, and the basis for the movie Gaslight. Period piece with accents (Victorian England) is fun to do, and well-received by audiences. Tale concerns a straight-laced husband and his frail wife -- is she crazy, or is her huband trying to drive her mad and have her put away? Publicity should mention the movie -- that name recognition thing, you know.

Arsenic and Old Lace by Joseph Kesselring - Comedy

Any community theater of any size has done this one -- often more than once! Name recognition is a big factor here; the characters are fun to play, it's a period piece that's not too difficult to do well (30's-40's), and audiences seem to love it no matter how many times it's been done.

Art by Yasmina Reza - Comedy-Drama

Tony Award: Best Play, 1998. Award-winning play about three friends and a piece of art that consists of nothing but a white canvas was deemed by our playreading committee to be rather offputting to our audience in Dover, DE, but would play well someplace more cosmopolitan, or by a group with three talented male actors and a desire (and an audience) for more intellectual fare.
