Part of my little theater group wants to include all our members, plus their spouses, to our cast party after the last performance. Another part wants to include just the cast & crew for that particular show.

All the cast parties I had attended previously were just for the cast & crew!! What do you do?

Cast, crew and their spouses or SO's. Good friends who saw the show that night may also be invited.

We don't really put any restrictions on our parties, but it's usuall the cast and crew, and maybe friends and families that happen to be around that night. Some of this depends on were the party is. If it's at the theater it tends to be more open, then if it's at someones house.

If there are people who wish to include general members in your party you might want to suggest doing an opening night reception at the theater after the show.

Actually Dan has the right idea, by having a reception type party on opening night, so as to included all the Members, sponsors & what have you!
I always have a production party on the last night - Only after the striking & bumping out of the set is completed. Then those of the cast & crew or who ever would like to be  around to assist - gets to party!

I find by stipulating that they can only party after the theatre is back to square one. Which usually takes under an hour. This tends to get rid of all the freeloader, hangers on & bludgers.

I don?t except all the whines or  excuses put forward by the cast of "We will come in & do it tomorrow!" Because it just doesn?t happen & the same few are left to handle it every time!

We've been doing our strike the day after closing night for many years, hangovers and all... we tell the cast right up front and the strike gives us all closure without bringing the cast party down. In fact, after a really good show, casts have been known to linger for an hour or more after strike is completed, just to talk and be together awhile longer.
