One of our visitors has suggested that we do away with the categories on this bulletin board and just post a message list, because it's too confusing to find what he wants. We thought we'd ask your opinion -- vote for your choice here!

I don't know that I'd say its confusing, just hard to wade through everything.  A little bit of consolidation would go a long way.

Ok.  I've thought about it a bit, and I can see the advantages of catagorizing the message board.  However, I really still believe that you have way to may catagories.  I think I would suggest the following:

1. General discussion - Include the Announcements, Comments, and Suggestions catagories

2. Theatre Politics and Administration I think can be merged

3. Acting

4. Directing (maybe merging with Plays & Scripts)

5. Backstage - all the How Do I catagories.

I think this would provide a useful breakdown without getting too catagorized.  My opinion only, of course.

I don't know, I guess if your new here and just want to browse, then there might be "a lot" of catagories to confront.  If however, your like me and check in at least weekly if not daily (and many times more than once a day) I think its kind nice to be able to see the new post indicator and determine immediatly if its an area that I'm concerened or interested in.  Put me down as a "Yes, I like what you've done with it!" It dosn't take any longer to look and see what's new, and sometimes I get to bypass stuff that's just not of interest to me anyway. There is just one area of concern with the new format. I lost my stars  I was working my way up the list, and now I have to start over. .  Just kidding.  Thanks for your hard work and for providing this great place to share with and learn from others who suffer from this all consuming obsesion called theater.

Lighting is the Rodney Dangerfield of the Theater, it never get respect (until something goes wrong).

I sure would like to see a lighting category. That is a discussion group to itself for sure.

Master Categories might be

*Plays and scripts

*Administration:(marketing, finance, sales, legal, logistics, buildings, and all other business)

*Acting/performing

*Technical (Sets, sound, lights, props, Special Effects)

Good suggestions so far, and I do think we can narrow down a bit -- I want a little more input from visitors, so I'm going to change this topic to "Polls" to see if we can get a few more folks to participate.
