I would be interested in exchanging info with other amateur groups (particularly those which operate as not-for-profit organizations) re the insurance coverage they have in place for the group, its members, directors and any other officials, as well as what role, if any, personal insurance (e.g. personal liability coverage via a homeowner's policy) may play in the overall risk management strategy.

I would also be interested in any experiences in which a particular coverage was tested as the result of a claim being filed. I have been researching this matter for our group and it has, so far, proven to be a complicated subject for which clear answers are fairly difficult to come by, although some progress has been made.

Thanks

Ron,

You need some good advice from folks with expertise on the legal ramifications. Is your group a member of the American Association of Community Theaters (www.aact.org)? (I think Canadian groups are eligible) They're a great resource for info and actual coverage. I don't know the details, but our general manager recently decided to change from our ages-old policy to an AACT policy because of better coverage AND better rates.
