Our theater group is going to be purchasing lights, but we've lost our tech guru. We have enlisted a new person who has done lighting in the past, but doesn't feel he knows enough to make recommendations. We are essentially starting from scratch, although we were donated an old dimmer pack (we had it overhauled)and a couple of fresnels of unknown utility. We don't have a board or cables. We are plan on using a thrust stage for our next production, which is new to us too. Any recommendations for a minimum starting point for lighting needs, disregarding the few pieces we do have? The only thing I know about the dimmer pack is that it runs on 220 V. Also, any resources on how to best position lighting for a thrust stage.

Here is the guy to help you. I have found him very responsive and knowledgable in the past.

my company is a lighting company in the Washington DC area. what exactly were you looking for and what did you want to spend? there are a lot of alternatives depending on what kind of a space it is. can you give me a little more information on your space and what you want it to be able to do?
