Ok here's the scoop. A theatre company I have just begun to work with wants to do Little Shop Of Horrors this summer. Problem - when they contacted New York to find out about renting the plant they were quoted $1000.00 for the plant and $700.00 for shipping! That is leaps and bounds over their budget for plant rental (they could swing $400 - $600) Any ideas? I'm in the Columbus, Ohio area if that helps.

I solved my own problem. After I posted this query I got online and found a web page with places to rent Audrey II all over the place. So here's the info in case anyone else out there has a need for it. This is the web page address

But back to that first post... $700 for shipping? Seriously? That's insane!

While $700.00 seems outrageous for shipping it IS reality. We did LITTLE SHOP and the puppet rental would have been $500.00, but the shipping was $1345.00! ...We made our own puppets. After looking into why the cost for shipping is so outrageous, I learned it has nothing to do with weight and everything to do with VOLUME. The largest plant is HUGE and takes a lot of space on the truck. That space can be filled with lots of small packages (at $10.00 to $20.00 a pop), or ONE HUGE package. The cost of renting space on the delivery truck is all the same. Also, keep in mind that shipping cost is ROUND TRIP. By the way, if anyone in the Dallas, TX area needs LITTLE SHOP puppets, we now have them for rent!
