I tried searching the archives first but had no luck (may have been doing it wrong, hard to believe this issue hasn't come up). I need to construct four very large stones (about 7 feet tall and 3 feet wide at the base). A general web search came up with a few options. Papier mache over chicken wire was probably the most common using strips of newspaper dipped in a 1:3 mixture of glue:water or wallpaper paste:water. Another strategy was using styrofoam with some combination of carving and spraying insulation foam over the basic shape. The first one seems a little easier to handle but at the size I'm talking about it might get too heavy. I'm also assuming that I would have to build some sort of frame to support the chicken wire and make the stones carryable. Please don't suggest smaller stones. I have seen "Children of Eden" done with much smaller stones and it just seemed silly.
Any help would be appreciated.
