Can anyone help fashioning a shotgun disguised as a walking stick for Waldo Lydecker in Laura. The play script calls for this prop and my prop master keeps telling me not to worry, but she won't tell me how she's doing it. I am worrying because I am not sure she has figured it out yet and tech week is two week away.

I'm honestly not that familiar with "Laura", but it seems to me your best bet of concealing a firearm in a walking stick is to fabricate a cane with a derringer pistol as a (removable) handle. Don't know about "shotgun" - that sounds a bit far fetched.

I don't disagree with the "far-fetched." But that is what is called for in the script. The detective and one of the suspects have a conversation about the shot and its spread. Also Lydecker (the perp) asks how can a saw-ed off shot gun be sawed off.
Thanks.

Frank,
Thank you, thank you. I have just seen the solution to my problem. You are a lifesaver. If I could see you face to face, I'd buy you a beer.

You're welcome, Lane.  I might need some help one day, too.

Frank,
The shotgun cane is made--in fact, the prop master made two--one is made of cane and another black wood with silver rings. Each pulls apart about midway revealing a silver looking barrel. Looks great. Thanks for your tip! I was amazed at how common the guns disguised as canes were--down through history. Devious people are really clever, aren't they? Thanks, again.
