We seem to have fallen off a cliff attendance-wise this year.  A number of possible variables but I'm not sure exactly what is going on.

Is everyone else doing well? (I hope!)

We had a huge drop off last year. Things are improving for us this year, but not quite back to what we had prior to last season.

Our attendance is down about a third from a couple of years ago. Things are looking up, but it's going to be a while before we're back to what we were calling "normal'.

I work for quite a few different companies in the metropolitan Denver area. Many of the shows I have designed in recent months have had losses, due to reduced audiences. In only a few cases, I think I can blame the choice of production. It seems that audiences are smaller because people aren't going out to see live theater as much. I am sure there is a way of explaining this from a macroeconomic perspective, but it is a huge disappointment. Subscription campaigns just aren't working the way they have previously, and you can't count on positive press or word of mouth to get people in the door for the time being. I am not aware of anyone in these companies having success with new, out of the ordinary marketing strategies, either.

We've managed to stay fairly consistent with our attendance, but we've had to market a lot harder to keep those numbers up. Hopefully that increased marketing will pay off in the near future.

The production that we just finished at one of our local theaters was close to setting an attendance record for a drama.  Comedies and musicals always seem to draw bigger crowds, but we were pretty happy with the attendance for this show.

Of course, it was an outstanding production! Wink

I work in a tiny town in the NW corner of Nowhere, and we have had really good attendance the last year or so.
