Hello,
My new theatre company is doing it's first play Saturday. I ordered a spotlight to use at the small venue. We do not have any lighting techs, we are doing it on our own. The spotlight did not come with a bulb or, a uv listing so, we don't know what to use. It is a par 56 aluminum can spotlight with a ceramic socket. What do we buy and where? Thank you so much in advance!

Where did you buy it from? The mfr. should be able to help you get a lamp, or least spec it out. Obviously, you need a supplier to overnight you something today, so even without mfr. specs, you can probably find knowledgeable help from your "local" theatrical supply store. For example, we buy all our lamps from Mainstage Theatrical Supply; they have locations in Milwaukee and Florida, and a website. (800-236-0878; www.mainstage.com) But whomever you use - talk to a person (not an online order, fax, etc.), make sure it's instock, and get it sent overnight guaranteed so you have it Friday. Lamps and connectors are rarely included in fixture purchases, so be sure to dicuss any cord/connector needs, too, so you don't have another ugly discovery tomorrow. I hope that helps a little; have a great first show!
