I could use some help.  I need to build 2 lighted arches. The first one frames the proscenium and th 2nd replaces a set of legs.  I am baffled as to what type of lights to use to do this. do i use rope lighting or florescent light tubes?  What type of cover would I use to defuse the lights?  Gels?, hard plastics,??

I think you need to give more details to get a good answer.  When you say the first arch frames the proscenium, do you really mean a false proscenium?  And when you say lighted arches, to you mean arches with light shining out behind them or lit from the front or does the entire arch glow?  How wide/thick are these arches, ex: The proscenium arch is maybe 20 feet tall and covers 40 feet in width, but is 24 uniform inches wide/thickness of frame.  Are these rounded or squared off to match the proscenium.

I'm thinking that you mean two similar pieces.  One is a false proscenium (squared off perhaps a uniform 24" wide frame), and the other is identical but placed at midstage.  I'm also thinking you want these to be one color and glowing uniformly.
