There is an opportunity for community theaters here...There are provisions within the tax code to offer tax advantaged status to certain awards, specifically those for 'length of service' and 'safety'.  The limitation for these awards in the US is $500 each award.

 

Usually retail vendors approach the companies to fill the need for 'service awards' or the promotional people sell watches, clocks, pen sets, kitchen knives (the award is not supposed to be a cash equivalent).

 

But a very valid argument can be made to companies to (buy these tickets and) give theater tickets, or season tickets as awards.  1.)The company can be seen as supporting the community. 2.) Tickets are not cash equivalent 3.)The award size is appropriate and within the limits. 4.) Theater can be seen as fun and rewarding.  5.) Tickets can be easily marketed as part of a safety promotion ("Think Safety! That's the 'ticket'!")

 

A community theatre could approach tax accountants with fliers suggesting this as a benefit for small companies.  They could also approach larger company's personnelle departments. Or just place fliers for the idea in the ticket box office area or in programs.
