I am looking for an audition song for my teenage daughter. She is planning to audition for the summer youth musical at our local theatre. Everyone who auditions gets cast. My daughter has no interest in a solo and is just looking for something simple to sing to get through the audition. Here's the catch . . . the director is asking the kids to sing 16 bars from an upbeat popular song rather than the standard selection from a musical.

Any suggestions for something easy that fits that criteria?

How about something by Jason Mraz?

The sheet music should be pretty easy to come by, and "I'm Yours" or "Lucky" (both from the "We Sing, We Dance, We Steal Things" CD) should fit the bill.

(Of course, I'm a big fan of Jason Mraz, so I'm prejudiced.)
