I'm thinking of quitting my theatre.  I was brought in 2 years ago to start-up a community & children's theatre in a rural area, from a large city where this was a profession.  I work for an arts org that does fine arts but had no experience with theatre.  They were happy to have me, but I've done 11 shows in 2 years, I've written over half of them, and even I think that's too many for a small area.  But the board keeps asking for more.  I have no $ for staff, some volunteers and so it's all on me and I am just so tired.  I think I've started something good but I cannot continue at this pace.

Are you venting, or looking for advice??

#1 methinks we all get burnt out from time to time. I had to take a break about 5 years ago.

#2 say no.  Do simpler stuff, or just say no. Delegate. Or say no

#3 or leave. Sounds like you have done good things. Maybe it's time.

Wishing you the best regardless, make a decision and go for it.

Why are you writing your own plays? There are a lot of good plays out there. Maybe if they had to pay for them they wouldn't put such a heavy load on your shoulders.
