| Any suggestions? I'm very pale and have used Dermablend in the past. It ended up looking like I had a dark bruise. |

Dang. I'm likely no help, then. I've had good luck with foot, ankle, and leg tattoos using vet wrap, a product you buy at farm stores. It wraps smoothly and looks great under pantyhose, but doesn't help with a shoulder blade. I just searched Google with "theater makeup tattoo cover up" and found some promising methods (tedious, but promising), but never having used any of them, I don't want to steer you toward anything in particular. ------------- Eric Brandt http://TheTheaterCommunity.com - The Theater Community

This is a process of multiple layers of makeup beginning perhaps with a neutralizing color usually based upon the colors found in the tattoo that will help hide the majority of the tattoo. But it is usually done in numerous layers and best done using airbrush. However check out Michael Davy's products - his DURACOLOR in small palettes of flesh color which are incredibly good, go on easily (alcohol activated makeups) and stay on, are usually water proof (but easily removed using soap and water). His AGPC (airbrush grade prosthetic cosmetics and SILICOLOR products are great as well if you want a sturdy makeup using your own base colors to match your skin tone. The Silicolor makes the makeup durable and semi-permanent though removable with soap and water). Michael developed the AGPC and DURACOLOR makeup products and are used by the MERMAIDS at Sea World I think it is in Florida. They apply it and it stays on under water. But it removes easily with soap and water. Great stuff - can say enough good things about it.
If you need help you can call and Mike will give you the best advice possible. His products can be found at numerous distributors around the country. I've used his products extensively and think they're some of the best, most durable and long lasting out there. Give the site a look.

Go to products and you'll find his complete line. The AGPC and DURACOLOR palettes both will work to cover tattoos but the AGPC being airbrushable liquid makeup works best to hide tattoos - but again must be done matching colors after first hiding the tattoo with whatever color that will do the most to neutralize the colors in the tattoo. But Michael's products are highly pigmented and cover very well. Give them a look.

By the way DINAIR also makeups are great for adding fake tattoos and for hiding real permanent tattoos using airbrush makeup. This video is a very quick idea of what it takes to hide a tat.

A lot of my female high school students have gotten tattoos on top of their feet. Character shoes go down just far enough to show off the entire tattoo. ...And then they're shocked when I tell them they'll have to cover it up. Who'da thunk? |

How about someone that decided the inside of the wrist was a great place for a 3 inch long theatre mask? Comedy on one, Tragedy on the other....
Yep, that free tattoo was really worth it, wasnt' it.......

We had really good success with a colour palette covering a large inner forearm tattoo. Because of the bright colours on the tattoo, different colours in the palette neutralized them.
All was great until just prior to festival, the actor ended up going south on vacation and got sunburned. Still had to use the palette to cover, and then had to use blush to match the rest of the skin!! |
