Have seen a couple of super dress transformations on youtube, one where the footman and coachman behind Cinderella pull off her ragged dress revealing the ball gown underneath, and one where the ragged dress just flips down revealing the ball gown, all while the fairy Godmother is dumping metallic confetti on Cinderella head as a distraction. I cannot figure out how to do either - how do I make an overdress that can be removed from the back in a second? Or that is concealed inside and under the ball gown? Any ideas?

This may be too late, but we did the transformation by having cinderella run off stage and the fairy mother calling her back. At that point a body double went back out in the same rags costume and the real cindy was getting into her ballgown. All this was happening in front of the midstage curtain. Behind the curtain we had a fog machine filling the upstage area and when the change was happening, we slowly opened the curtain and as fog filled the stage, fake Cindy twirled towards the back and into the wings and the dressed Cindy twirled on. It worked great and people were asking us how we got her changes so quickly.

When we completely opened the curtain, it had our coach there and then all the animlas did the twirl thing with their counter parts.
