I'm putting together a kind of Cabaret. I've got some singers with thier own peices, and a choreographer who can do anything. I'm wondering if there are others who have assembled variety type shows, how they seek out short scripts and material for the drama side of it. The theme is "May Day: Cheerful doom" as in flowers and may poles and bombers getting shot down. So if you know any peices that are in keeping with that twisted idea, or just where to go to select things, please throw out your ideas. Thanks!

There are scads of cabaret-type shows available through script services like French. Keep in mind that unless your singers have composed themselves the songs they sing, you have to pay performance rights. I know of a cabaret-style troup in my area that got away for several years performing popular songs without paying rights, until they got caught and had to cough up a pile of money to pay for all those years they thought they were going scot free. Just a word to the wise...

Have you looked into excerpts/musical numbers from Steel Pier?
