I'm thinking of doing Snow White and was wondering if anyone knew of any good ideas for a magic mirror? My idea was to have the mirror lowered down from the fly space and just have the face projected on it from above, but would it even be visible to the audience if it were projected on a mirror?

I think the best way to do the mirror effect would be to use a scrim or other translucent piece of fabric for the glass, and have an actor stand behind the frame. It would require very specific lighting, but the effect works very nicely. The last time I did this, the mirror was hung on a flat, the area behind the mirror opened up, and the actor stood behind the flat. You will need to be sure that everyone in the audience can see the actor behind the mirror, but this is a surefire way to make the effect successful.

You can rear project onto a scrim "mirror". Or front project.  Or use a scrim for a reveal effect as brian talks about above. A scrim does an excellent job for a mirror.
