The sky is the limit in the fact that we are outside and have no sort of roof what so ever.  There is a metal structure in which I'm able to hang microphone in some spots for the stage.
So in the past we have been using MX202 Shure Multiflex overhead microphones http://www.shure.com/ProAudio/Products/WiredMicrophones/us_pro_MX202B-C_content - http://www.shure.com/ProAudio/Products/WiredMicrophones/us_pro_MX202B-C_content
I find these hard to work with outside due to their very thin cables.  We take all the sound gear down every night and these mic never get wrapped properly.  We have difficulties with feedback as well.  If anyone knows alot about this type of mic and could spread some insight on placement I be very appreciative.

I have a second idea of replacing the above mention area mics with Rhode NTG-2

These mics are more design to be boom mics for video productions.  I used one of these mics onstage and was able to get more out of it than mutli of the Shure area mics.  These mics also allow me to connect a regular XLR cable to them which would be easier for setup and take down.  My concern though is that I'm missing something.  Since these mics are for video production and not necessarily live musicals.

Any comments on the above mics?
What mics do you use outdoors?
I'm looking for any and all suggestions.  Thank you all very much.

Aden
