I told my 11 year old the idea and the first thing out of his mouth was "That's going to be dumb."

lol  I guess we won't be seeing it.  Clown

I don't like the idea. It sounds dumb- not like a real play, more like a product tie-in.

I predict it will go the way of "Superman" the musical. ("It's a Bird, It's a Plane, It's Superman" by Charles Strouse) which hit the ground harder than a man of steel.

It would be cool if it was produced by Jack Batman ("Enchanted April") just for the marquee. "BATMAN PRESENTS SPIDERMAN!"

And while I'm at it:   Should they ever make an "Incredible Hulk" musical, I hope it's a good one just to read the review's headline: "HULK SMASH!"

Okay, I'm done.

I actually believe "It's a Bird, It's a Plane, It's Superman" would be a success today. It was just a little ahead of its time. It got pretty good solid reviews from the critics, but the public just wasn't ready for a musical that was basically about moral relativism.

If it were revived, I bet it would run quite a long time.

Yeah not really sure what angle they will be headed with this show. I do know one thing :

Music by Bono.

OK I can go you one worse.  Try looking up the Toxic Avenger Musical.  Yes the first superhero from New Jersey.  I don't know much about the musical other than music by the same guy who did "I love your you're perfect now change".  I remember the Toxic Avenger movies from the early '80s and loved them, but I love bad B movies.  A nerd is dumped into toxic waste by bullies and turns into a heroic monster.

Spiderman doesn't sound so bad now does it?

I just got a terrific recording of the musical "Evil Dead: The Musical" which is a camp/musical version of the cult slasher Evil Dead movie franchise.

It's wonderful! Funny - and very musical - and very true to the original source (rather like "Little Shop of Horrors"). There's even a chain saw murder song complete with chain saw.

If they can make THAT work, they can make Spiderman work! (Heck, they worked it out for SpiderWOman!)

Tristanrobin, you have my heart all a flurry.  I love everything Bruce Campbell (quite possibly the world's worst actor and I watch love every minute of his stuff, pure B movie heaven) and will be ordering a evil dead musical soundtrack asap.  Thanks for the heads up.

One of the companies I've been working with is working on a proposal for Evil Dead for the fall, but rights are pretty tightly restricted.  Still, if that comes through, everything else goes out the window.
