So I want to make a cow costume more on the "realistic" end of things--though she is a talking, upright walking cow so really I'm just avoiding the comical furry costume-y cows.  And I want the actors eyes to be seen really well.

I'm thinking of a head piece with the necessary accoutrements and then a separate snout piece that (I know this isn't comfortable) would be spirit gummed on.  I'd like thoughts on this.

If it seems like a possible premise...could I make the snout piece out of mask latex?  I've never used it.  If I found a cheap plastic mask that had a decent shape, could I pour mask latex in to get a flexible partial mask?  Or is that not at all how it works?

Also, since I'm asking...any great ideas for hoofs?

Thanks!

Instead of having to make a snout piece, why not just buy one? We constructed a cow head for Batboy, and bought a really realistic looking snout at our local costume store... Might save you a little time.

As far as hooves... What about getting the real thing at a pet supply store and using them somehow? I know ours carries small to massive sized hooves for dogs... If you got  a couple and glued them together, they might work somehow.

If I could find a snout I like, I'd go for it.  But I want it to blend well into the performer's skin.  I don't want it to look like it's simply strapped on to the front of her face.

Thanks for the lead on the hooves---I'll look into it.

Hello,
I am doing Bat Boy right now. Do you have any pictures of the cow head? I am planning to build mine around a cow mask, but other pointers (or ideas for the rabbit) would be welcome.

Many thanks!

These guys have terrific latex and foam animal snouts/faces/ears (including cow) and such. I used their products for the wolf in "Into the Woods" and he looked good! This was my first try at attaching and blending prosthetics and they were quite helpful and, I think, resonably priced.
