Here's the story. Our website was coded by a computer programmer in his off time. He used the ASP language and put a lot of time into it. If you wanna see it go here while it lasts http://www.centerstagejackson.org/HomePage.aspx - http://www.centerstagejackson.org/HomePage.aspx

There's a lot of backend functionality there so it's easy to update, but despite the visual look of the site, if anyone else wanted to add a new section or something it'd be impossible unless you knew ASP and MS SQL database.

Well the guy that was doing the website has left the board and no longer wishes to do the website so I was tasked with being the new guy. Now i know my way around html, but ASP just isn't my bag.. It's just not something most hobbiests ever learn if we learn a full language at all.

What have I decided to do? Well essentially I'm gutting the useful information from the website and doing something entirely different. The most important part is that what I put up will be fairly easy for anyone that can handle a myspace or facebook account to update and make changes.

I've made an insanely simple under construction page that if you just type http://www.centerstagejackson.org - http://www.centerstagejackson.org  you'll see that. I also plan to update that page as I go along so if people want to follow my progress they can.

This is the part where I invite you to make suggestions of what types of sections or information other than the general basic I should have. I am installing a CMS (Joomla 1.5) as the framework for those of you familiar with it. I know some of you are in the process of making your groups websites or maybe just finished so this might be fun to watch me stumble through and create something that looks nice and is very functional.

Well I can't help making a shameless plug for http://www.stageref.com - http://www.stageref.com .  We'll host free cross-referenced listings to your productions that you can link to from your site.

You can find out how at http://www.stageref.com/submission/producer.aspx - http://www.stageref.com/submission/producer.aspx

It does look good.  Did you use some sort of downloaded template?

It would not be much piont our mob listing, we are ore more than a bus & boat ride from the target area location. So I guess it is only for  Uscomeatre groups?
But it is a great idea!
