Has anyone ever had the chance to use LED pars?  what is your experience with them?  Are they as good as they claim to be?

I have a chance at a complete 8 led par set (w/controller, cables, tree) for just over $1k, but want to know if they are worth the investment, or should i just stick with conventional lights?

While I do not have any direct experience with LED pars, I understand they are brighter and more energy efficient, but tend to dim down (how much, I don't know) with age.  This is pretty much true of all Light Emitting Diode technology, but it is always improving.  I also know cities and large industries are switching to LED lighting (street lights and general coverage lighting) for the long life and energy savings, so I doubt these pars will ever be so dim they are worthless to use.  The "magic" is in what type of controller is used.

I have not worked wiht any yet, but they are probably the wave of the future.  It is looking like that within a few years (decades at the most) the traditional tungsten-halogen lamps will be phased out, even illegal in some locations.
Let us all know how they work if you do get them, I think we will all be using them soon enough.
