In "The Matchmaker," Irene Molloy sings:

So remember while you can what became of Nelly Ann, who trusted in the promise of a drinking man"

...can't find that the song exists anywhere...suggestions? Thanks!

I've tried searching for it for you with the same results: nil.

Some suggestions:

1) Check the videos of http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0064418/ - HelloDolly (1969) or http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0051913/ - TheMatchmaker (1958) [with Shirley McLaine in Irene's role] and see if the song is sung in them.

2) As difficult as it is to find this song (which Wilder may have invented), I doubt anyone would know you had made up your own tune.

3) Check with http://www.tcnj.edu/~wilder/ - ThorntonWilderSociety and use their query system (at bottom of page) to pose your question.
