I am looking for suggestions for full length plays that could be done in film noir style. Any ideas?

any of the classic film noir flicks that were based on plays - "Laura," "Rick's Place" (Casablanca), etc.

actually, I just remembered a terrific little 3-character film noir musical (piano only) called Gunmetal Blues ... I wanted to produce it a few years ago, but something else happened instead. I'm 99.9% sure that Samuel French handles the rights and scripts.

Who holds the rights to Rick's Place?   I thought it was originally Everybody Comes to Ricks.

Another noir type in addition to Laura:  Detective Story.

I don't know - I haven't ever been involved with it. I've seen it twice though. I know that it was changed dramatically for the film - but when I've seen it, it follows the film very closely. I'm assuming that they've changed it to match up with the screenplay.

Another really fun, funny film noir play is "Women Behind Bars" - though it's quite adult in language. But hySTERical.

We were considering "City of Angels", which has a great score, but some fairly strong demands upon the singers and the various styles.  Plus we had some interesting challenges changing the stage and costuming from color to black and white back to color again and again during the show.

A modern noir show that runs along the lines of "Law and Order" (short meaty scenes, scattering of clues, vibrant and memorable characters) is

What about Rope?  The stage script is meatier than the movie...
