I am looking for ideas for the set of "7B47B" aka 7 brides for 7 brothers.
The director is thinking of sound effects for the avalance.... I think it needs a more visual effect to go with it. Has anyone done this show or built a set for this show. We have an outdoor amphitheatre stage that is 48 wide and 24 deep. We can add wings if necessary, but would not be very good for the sight lines. All entrances and exits are ds l or r and us l or r.

From what I remember of the stage show, unlike the film. The avalanche is only a script plot device, to restrict the local towns folk, from mobilising a pose, to get their daughters back. Thus handled as purely an audio effect, allowing the punters to realise & accept the successfully isolation of the town. Thus creating the required time delay in accessing the Brothers farm & location.
While it could be handled visually, with back projection. I think it would throw up quite a few logistic dramas, in an outdoor setting.
To my way of thinking, the Brothers house interior of different levels & rooms. This would be the up stage central structural piece, to the majority of the script. Utilising these areas for separate locations, with lighting or set dressing.
In fact it may even work to fit swing away book flats, on the front of the house structure. To give the exterior effect, in order to change the set or as for the town.
