Exciting! We have been through our tech week, and finished a last set of dress rehersals on sunday for a Friday opening of Cyrano!!! 7 performances, 6 breakaway glass bottles, 5 costumes changes for Roxanne, 4 amazingly realistic sword fights, 3 sets of stairs to climb up to our beautiful balcony, 2 bloody wounds on the battlefield, and 1 perfectly placed prosthetic nose!!!!

Take a look...a vid from our first dress rehersal for the sword fight between valvert and cyrano!! Enjoy guys!!!

Neil

You may want to check out the thread about videotaping dress rehearsals and performances.

Thanks! We pre-arranged with a local newspaper to get this shown on cable...we have the vid rights along with performance ones, we knew we wanted a promo vid online and on local access!

YIKERS!!! You mean THAT isn't public domain now?  I mean how old IS that play?  Crickey!! Can't even do classic stuff anymore without the copyright police coming down on your head?  Sheesh!!  Ah well, this is certainly an eye-opener.  Can't imagine but then again - "for educational and archival purposes" - and you can claim that in defense perhaps.  Confused

Glad to hear that you're having such success with Cyrano - and his schnoz!! LOL  I DO wish you had let me know - I could have made numerous more of those noses so you could have new, fresh ones to use rather than reuse over and over.  Nice to have a new nose every performance - or at least once in a while.  GLAD the nose was "out in front" HAHAHA!!! AS I'm SURE it would be anyway.  NICE looking fight going on that video too.  VERY well choreographed apparently.  Nice when you can go fairly "full out" and know that your actors are safe and well-schooled in the use of the swords.  Excellent looking fight - nice costumes, etc.  GLAD that the nose worked.  Next time - as if - let me know and I'll make more of them so the actor can have that new-nose freshness!! Sounds like a commercial doesn't it?

GREAT FUN.

To clear everything up...the Hooker translation of Cyrano is public domain, the Burgess one is not! So anyone wishing to do it...keep that in mind!
