Well we are down to the wire chosing a show for our spring production. Still hoping the theater will be done in time. Confused We are trying to incorporate as many kids as possible (high school) so we want a relatively large cast. We've looked at "Our Town" but that was just done at a local college
or "12 Angry Jurors"  that we could use just furniture in the show.  This one we are waiting to hear on the rights, but does not look promising.
We are just hoping for more options, any ideas?  At this point, comedy  or drama doesn't really matter.

"The Dining Room" is a six hander. Lots of roles to be played, but by only six actors (or was it eight). Unless we're talking about two scripts with the same title.

Want a lot of bodies on stage? Minimal Set? Try a Shakespeare. You can do near anything with that. "Much Ado",  or "Romeo & Juliette" spring to mind. Minimal set, and use all your extras as stage hands.

Try http://www.lazybeescripts.co.uk/cgi-bin/Search_Results.asp?iAR=5&iSc=122&sTh=%5BAny%5D - Witch Hunt - minimum cast of 12, but the numbers are flexible (there's a sort of Greek Chorus).

How long a show are you looking for?  (Witch Hunt runs to about 40 minutes.)  What's your minimum (live) body count?

Shakespeare is an excellant suggestion.  Many Shakespeare shows have sets but can play beautifully without sets.  Midsummer Nights can have a light based set--Gobos on the floor for the forest scenes.  Ditto for Into the Woods.

12 Angry Men or 12 Angry Women can be fun.

Even The Odd Couple has about 8 people in it...and has a female version that has the same number (the four friends, the odd couple themselves and the Pigeon sisters).  If you wanted to you could play that without a real set.  Chairs and tables.  The couch could be 3 chairs.  The door can be mimed.

Crisis averted! We did get the rights to 12 Angry Jurors so we can start planning with a set and without a set. Thanks for the info
