I've finally found the song I need for my show, but it's a midi file.  Does anyone know how I can save that to a CD?  It always comes up blank.

(I don't have access to a laptop so I have to use a CD for my sound effects.)

E-Mail it to me and I'll convert it for you to any format you need.

Well OK to expound, you cannot copy a midi to a CD - I mean you CAN but you'll get nothing playing it through a CD player. MIDI is a specific format for any keyboard or other instrument capable of that format - and CD PLAYERS ARE NOT capable of that format.  SO it has to be converted into an MP3 or a WAV file or a WMA (Windows Media File - which also may not play through a CD player - depends).  But it takes specific software to do that.  Actually there IS a relatively decent conversion program FREE online that you can input your MIDI file and select either WAV or MP3 for output back to your computer.  I have loads of software that does that sort of thing but HAVE used this online piece of software to generate WAV files (actually larger files but much better sound than MP3's which are more tightly compressed).  If you want I can look for that program link (not sure of what it is or where at this point but I DO have it someplace) or send the file to me and I'll convert it and return a WAV file to you which you CAN cut to CD and usually that format will play on just about any CD player regardless of age.  OLDER CD players did have some limitations but if it's less than 2 - 3 years old it should be fine.

TonyDi ... you're the best!  I'll have my "sound guy" (AKA my better half) send it to you today.  Thanks!  :o)

TonyDi ... I am unable to PM you (your box is full), but was wondering if you got my email?

Hey Nan,

NO I never received anything from you at all.  I had no idea what happened to your message.  I just never received anything at all.  I guess I should have E-mailed you back and asked - I just figured you found a way to do it.  BUT if you try any of several E-Mails (or tell me where you got your midi file) then perhaps I can find it and convert it then send it back to YOU.  BUT you can try several of my E-Mails.  I will PERSONAL MESSAGE YOU with ALL my E-Mail addresses and you can try sending it to all of them - I'm sure ONE of them will work.  WHICH one did you use to send it to this time?

Anyway, check your PM.

PS

Nan, I just checked my PM INBOX and the only message I had from you was to send you an E-Mail (personal) so you could send the file to me.  I responded to that TWICE - the first time with a usable E-Mail and second PM to ask if YOU had gotten the PM from me.  I just PM'd you again with about 5 usable E-Mail addresses - any of which you should be able to send this to and it will accept them.  I have NO FULL E-Mail boxes and it should never reject anything that gets sent.  I keep them clear of old stuff so anything practically will go through.  TRY AGAIN - check your PM box first.  HOPE this helps.
