Anybody continue directing in their sleep? over the weekend I had nightmares, which escalated into me asking people to "please be quiet backstage" over and over in my dreams.

Am I just slowly going insane?  Would be a simpler answer. Heheheh.

Shocked

Hehe not going insane trutter.  Once I woke myself up saying "Hold Please" in a very stern and well projected voice.  Who knows what the neighbors thought was going on at 4 a.m. in my place. LOL

just means you're very focused right now, my husband was once dead asleep and suddenly blurted out a standard phone message he'd had to leave about a hundred times at work that day, and then rolled over and continued sleeping soundly.

I have dream directed before, and I hate it, it's just the stress of trying to pull it all together.  I was told that when I was in A Chorus Line, I would do the choreography in my sleep.  My partnered would sleep in the spare room just to get a good night sleep from me hitting him. LOL

The Director got ahold of the Original Broadway Choreography and about 60% of the cast are professional dancers.  After the first night of rehearsal we crawled out of the theater.  We all thought we would never make it through this show alive.  Ouch Dead
By the time we opened no one complained about sore feet or legs anymore.  But we ran the show for 6 months.  The longest run we had for a show.

Don't feel too bad.  During my last show (It was a melodrama), I woke my self up trying to get the audience to boo and hiss and make noise.  That was of course after hours of trying get to sleep.
lol I guess I eat, sleep and breath a play when I'm directing it.LOL

It's possibly a very good job Kendra, you were not doing a Panto.
It might have been a bit disconcerting Screaming out ;-

"Oh no he's not?"
"Oh yes he is!"

It was similar for us with 'ACL". [Off on a tangent again - sorry!]
In fact the initial 12 performances, were almost sold out, before the audition process was completed.
So i jumped in for our chops with the primarily blue rinse committee to & extended by a further 2 weeks [6 shows], they begrudgingly gave permission!
Also it was in the hight of summer 40 in the water bag, for most of the rehearsals. I pushed for Air con to be installed in the auditorium & managed to get it for $10 000 (AUD) which they kept bleating on about, so much so in thier wisdom, they put the cost down against the shows budget. Abyway the bookings kept pouring in, so they had to extend for a further 2 weeks. Then stated that was the last & our show was holding up the next production, a gawed awful kitchen drama, directed by one of the purple circle.
So the cast  crew put it to the theatre that they would tour the show & that was hit soundly on the sconce, with a big no.
rather than disapiont all the ACL mob, I fired up another theatre group & we produced the show else where.
Frankly like your group we could have kept going for some time. But I must of upset the tinted circle - the wombats!
Mind you I had done the show in between having a number of stokes & hospital intensive car - great form of rehabilitation.
That is probably why it was such a good production. - I was in a dream & off on another plane some where?
But that's all a t'other story
