I am directing a community theatre productino of Nunsense, and we are having a very difficult time finding the habits for our nuns. Most of teh coustumes we have found have been cheap halloween type that just will not work. I have a costume designer that can make them, however I would rather Buy or Rent the costumes if I can. Have any of you done this show? where did you get the habits? any suggestions would be appreciated.

These shouldn't be that hard to find. Seems like anybody who has done a nun show (Sound of Music) ought to have some nun duds.

You also might try the local catholic church. Ours was more than ahppy to loan us ours and if they don't have habits, they would certainly know where to get them.

This may be way too late for you, but just for the record, try http://www.gothicgarments.net - www.gothicgarments.net . They're a great resource. It might be too spendy to clothe everyone in them, but maybe use for a pattern? Or just use them as a source of accessories and go with an inexpensive, generic black robe. Check it out!

There is also a nunsense website that rents habits. Its http://www.nunsense.com - www.nunsense.com . On the home page, left side go to buy nunstuff. On that page, left side, near bottom it says habit rental information. Hope that helps

Thank you for all the suggestions, as it turns out I was able to find them locally, All teh costumes that were made for the show. I apreciate all teh suggestions.
