I am helping with makeup for a community theater performance of The Lion, The Witch, and The Wardrobe. My question is about the makeup for the White Witch, who is supposed to be very beautiful, yet very icy and cold looking. I've got white and bluish-gray liquid base, silvery shades of eyeshadow, dark blue eyeliner, silver false eyelashes, and body glitter. I'm having trouble getting the makeup to go on smoothly and not clump up. Are there any secrets about getting this to work? Any other tips or advice on how to make her look really icy?

Please help - the dress rehearsal is tonight!

Hey! Personally i would scratch the intense makeup, ice effects and go with regular women's base, but in the lightest shade you can buy, it will go on much smoother just like real makeup and give a much more icy appearence, on top of this use blue eyeshadow or grey/silvery eye shadow to highlight the areas of the face that would traditionally get blush and shadow to make it look much more realistic. definitely work up the realism here, with too much silver glitty and fake eyelashes she could end up looking foolish and too overdone, make her icy and smooth and slick. I wondered about using regular base. I even tried mixing some of the white makeup w/the regular base. I thought it looked great, but my dh thought it was too "dark".

I appreciate the input!!! :)

Check out your local hobby store or model-train supply. They have white, spray-on flocking that resembles snow. It comes in an aeresol can and will give a light or heavy dusting of frost on anything (costumes, hair, etc.)

Be sure your actor is holding her breath as you decorate her, and be careful not to spray it into anybody's eyes. When dry, it can be brushed off, shampooed out, or laundered away.

Very cool effect; no pun intended.
