Many years ago someone told me  'there are more than one way to kill shadows on the walls of a set' .   He did not explain what he meant.  So, does anyone know how to kill shadows on sets?

The easiest way is to 'wash' the walls with light from above. I usually don't get enough to work with to elliminate all of the shadows though. Not knowing where your lights are placed, try to raise them higher so more of the shadows are on the floor instead of the wall.
