If you're looking for a large cast musical which you don't already see several times a year, "Big, the musical", is not a bad choice.  It has 6-8 good parts (3 women, 3 men, 2 boys), a modern, jazzy and interesting score, a bunch of smaller speaking roles, parts for kids and a family-friendly theme.

If you're not familiar with the show, just picture the Tom Hanks movie "Big" with music and a bigger role for the young boy's mom and the boss's secretary.

Costumes are incredibly simple, modern street and office clothes.

Sets are somewhat problematic with the high number of different scenes, but I think a creative director could minimize.   We built the "Big" keyboard with a 2x4 base, white translucent plexiglas keys and 1157 brakelight bulbs to light the keys individually as they were stepped on.

I wasn't expecting much when the board selected this show, but it has literally been "Fun" (one of the songs in the show).

Welcome to the Theater, to the Magic, to the Fun
