| I have to throw wine and milk into a character's face. Any suggestions on what substitute liquids I can use, so that it won't stain the costumes. I tried to put this on the "prop, costume" site, but it wouldn't let me. Thanks for any suggestions. |

I would leave it up to the props & costume people and the director to sort out. You have enough on your plate as an actor. This is not something that should be your responsibility nor should anyone expect it to be. ------------- BD

That's a difficult question because depending on what type of fabric is used in the costumes even water will stain.
Don't use milk because it will go sour and smell. Water with a bit of flour may look like milk. Wine is a little harder....maybe if you used a clear glass to hold the "wine" and colored the interior of the glass with red paint or dye so that it looked like it was full of wine. Fill it instead with water. As you throw it most people won't see that it is clear rather than red. You could do something similar with the milk....white painted glass filled with water. ------------- "behind a thin wall of logic panic is waiting to stampede" |

Thanks everyone for your suggestions. Yes, the play is The Cemetery Club. I live in an active adult senior comunity and we're finally doing a play that matches our ages (for the most part.) In the past we've done large musical comedies of a rather silly nature and we're all excited to do a realistic play. This is the fifth play I've directed here and I'm looking forward to working with this small cast, rather than the large casts of 35 that I had to deal with before.
If any of you have any more suggestions to share about this play, let me know. I've looked at many other little theater websites to see their idea of The Cemetery Club. It was so interesting to see the many different ideas.
