All topics must be theater-related. Appropriate events include theater festivals, fundraisers, workshops, special events, audition dates, and show dates.

To add an event:
Click the Calendar of Events link at the end of this post, or go to the Events Calendar forum on the main page and click the Calendar of Events topic. On the topics page, click "New Topic," just as if you were adding a topic to the discussion board. The form that comes up includes a drop-down date box; other than that, it's just like posting to the board. Add details about your event -- who, what, when, where, why, etc. -- in the message area and post it. When you do, the subject line of your post will appear as a linked item on our main calendar, and your post will be added as a topic in the Events Calendar forum.

Notes on posting show dates:
Rather than posting all the dates for a show, you'll probably just want to post the opening and maybe the closing date, since currently you have to post each date individually. If you want to post just the opening, you can put all the dates of the run in the accompanying description. We also suggest  you put your location (city, state, province, etc.) in the title of your post. There are a couple of events that have already been added to the calendar if you'd like to see how to do it.

To view the calendar:
Click the Calendar link that appears at the top of every page. To view details about the item, click the link. Member birthdays also appear on the calendar; if you want to see just event postings without the birthdays, choose "Hide Birthdays" in the dropdown box above the calendar.

About Birthdays
Birthdays are automatically added to the calendar if you provided your date of birth when you signed up; if yours isn't there and you'd like it to be, update your profile by adding it in the space provided. Likewise, if you prefer not to have it show, remove it from your profile.

Currently, there is just one calendar for the entire forum. However, we've been told that the next forum update will include the ability to associate a calendar with a particular forum. When that happens, we'll create regional forums and calendars to make it easier to find events in your area. In the meantime, we still think it will be useful to let everyone know who's working on what across the country and around the world.

Try it out and let us know what you think -- we'll pass any problems you encounter or suggestions for improvement on to the forum designers for consideration in the next update.

Post an item on the  http://www.communitytheater.org/forum/forum_topics.asp?FID=27 - Calendar of Events
