Hello All,

I am directing a production of GYPSY which opens in November 2006, I am starting now, since it is an elaborate production.

I am looking for anyone who has access to any costumes, props or set pieces for this musical.  e.g. Stripper costumes (primarily electra), any and all specialty costumes, coat blankets, trorreadorables, the cow, Gypsy gowns, etc., the lighted rose signs, any and all.

If you also know of a resonable rental company for these items as well that woudl be great, but I figured there has to be at least a dozen or more community theatres who have done Gypsy and ran into this predicatament as well, trying to find all these items for their show.

Thanks for your time and I look forward to hearing from you.

When I directed "Gypsy," we rented all the costumes from Costume World in
NY. They were gorgeous - and very complete...none of the dance recital look
that so many costume rentals have.

We also used them for "Mame" - and they were incredibly spectacular.

We are currently running Gypsy through the first weekend in August. We have purchased/enhanced/made all of our costumes and props. We are interested in renting them out. We are going to be taking individual pictures of the costumes most needed, i.e. Electra, the strippers, the coats (I even made one for a small dog), lighted Gypsy and Rose signs, etc. If you are interested, I need to know what you are looking for specifically. We are selling out every performance, so we must be doing something right! Hope to hear from you. Renting for this size cast would have been extremely costly so we decided to assemble our own costumes and props. We are located in northeastern Illinois.  Hope to hear from you.

Hey, if you need an authentic camera, let me know.  I have a 1948 Poloroid Land Camera that we used whaen we did GYPSY 6 years ago.  We also did our own costuming, and did not have to rent many props.  I wish you luck.
