Thank you everyone for your fake brick suggestions, very helpful!!!

One more conundrum for your expertise: I'm doing a battle scene for Richard III and need to somehow pitch a very basic tent into a concrete stage. There isn't a budget, so all I have to work with is the concrete walls of the theatre. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated, I'm at a loss!

Thanks you!

Kelly

How about using weighted pole stands (the kind used for securing patio umbrellas underneath a dining table)?  Disguise them as rocks, moss or mounds of earth and set your upright poles in them.  Stretch a rope between them and use a lightweight fabric (actual canvas might be too heavy).  Hold down the flaps with large rocks, brick or more weights.
