For my next show I would like to do something with a smaller cast (around 5 - 10 people) any suggestions?

Thanks -

oh...there are soo many.

You're a Good Man Charlie Brown
Company
A Little Night Music
Assassins
The Fantasticks
 how about those for starters?

Or you could do a musical revue...good luck with finding your show.

I have directed 1940's Radio Hour twice. It is the only show that I would be happy to do again and again. It has a cast of 13.

I also really enjoyed the musical review "Grand Night for Singing" with a cast of 5. There are some really interesting and new arrangements of Rodgers and Hammerstein standards.

I agree with Juliet. There are so many.

I think "Ruthless" is terrific - only 8 characters...if you aren't
familiar with it, it's a musical version and parody of "The Bad
Seed," "Gypsy," and "All About Eve." It's hysterical - good, good
songs - and the most horrific leading lady ever LOL. When I
saw it, the role of the young-murderess-Shirley-Temple-
wannabe was played by (a very youthful) adult, and it didn't
matter one iota that it wasn't really a child.

also, believe it or not, the professional production of "Guys and
Dolls" at Longwarf Theatre last season only had 13 actors!- and
it was really dynamite.

Forever Plaid
The Taffeta's
She Loves Me
Always, Patsy Cline
Pump Boys and Dinettes

If you are REAL brave try Radio Gals 6 women and 1 man - the women need to play several instruments at a high level - they are the accompaniment.

In our production of "Pump Boys," the boys were the band and
the girls were the percussion. I thought it was always done that
way - do productions sometimes use a pit band? Do the
musical numbers then get heavily choregraphed?

Another virtuoso musicianship show is "Oil City Symphony" -
written by the Pump Boys folks. The cast, again, is the
accompaniment.

A relatively new musical called "Song of Singapore"
has a cast of four and very entertaining music. (I've
never seen the show, but a friend loaned me a
recording.)

In regards to tristanrobin's suggestion: I saw a
production of "The Bad Seed" where the murderous
8-year-old girl was played by an adult male in drag.

Needless to say it was campy fun. Hilarious!

A Broadway Christmas Carol has only 4 members in the cast, Pippin, Godspell, School House Rock! Live!, Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat, Aspects of Love,....
