Anyone done it...seen it?  Thoughts?  It's another one that has been submitted for next season, and I'm not too familiar with it.  I'm listening to the soundtrack as I'm typing this, and I'm enjoying it, but once again, just wanted to get your thoughts.  Thanks!!

I really like it...I enjoyed the production I was involved with quite
a lot. However, in the current world of AIDS, HIV, rampant
teenager pregnancies and STD's, the promiscuity which is at
the very heart of the show, makes it seem INCREDIBLY dated.
It's actually not so much that there is promiscuity, but that it's
considered so darned 'cute.'

With that in mind, the music is catchy (if somewhat disco-
oriented in the orchestrations), and the dance numbers -
especially Turkey Lurkey - really move. There are a couple of
gorgeous ballads ("Wanting Things" and "Whoever You Are I
Love You" bring tears to my eyes). It's always fun to do those
great high style 60's/early 70's costumes - you can't beat mini-
skirts, go-go boots and bouffant hair dos on the women and
side-burns and wide ties and bell bottoms on guys to get a
chuckle from the audience. The sets are fairly simple - in fact,
LOL, as I recall, when I saw our final plans, I thought they
looked an awful lot like our production of "How to Succeed in
Business" LOL.

If you end up doing it, enjoy it! It has some real challenges - but
anything worthwhile does, right?!

If you're familiar with the Billy Wilder film The Apartment, the musical is based on that.
