I am looking for some ideas for a fund raising event for our theater group to do.  I would like something that involves the audience or participants at an event.  I have suggested a murder mystery dinner theater experience but the scripts were ordered through Samuel French and the royalties were too high for most board members to agree to.  Many of them also thought it would be too much work.  I have done thses with other groups I have been with and I know they go over well but I can't convince everyone else.  I also suggested a sock-hop because I thought it would be fun and go over well with families (our target audience).  Does anyone have any other suggestions?

You could try a silent auction before your shows.  Get some items donated from people and businesses in the community and give the audience a chance to look everything over and bid on the items all thoughout the run of the show.  The last date is when it's final...or you could have new items each date and have the auction final each night.
