This is a great resource for play reading!

Our theater is doing a fund raising cruise (see "Money Talk" under the Administration category for more details on that) that involves choosing a cast from those that sign up for the cruise. So there's no telling until we get closer in, exactly what we have to cast from. Since we will be performing on a stage (or dance floor depending on the size of our group) our sets have to be very limited. Also, since all funds are going back to the theater, we are looking for royalty-free shows that won't detract from our fund raising efforts. The show only needs to be about 30 to 40 minutes long. A comedy or mystery is always the best route to go with these things. We'll perform the show one night before dinner during a private cocktail party in one of the ship's lounges.

Thanks in advance!

Check out anything written by Pirandello. He was a
driving force behind the Theater of the Absurd and all
his works are in the public domain. His plays are
very short and really off-the-wall.

Samuel French has a section in their catalog for royalty free plays.  Never looked at any of them though . . .
