Ok, I have a doofy question. I'm looking at recommending "Once Upon a Mattress" for our group this year. I've had some unexpected delays in getting my perusal script (but that's another story), so I ask this question: would it be a reasonable stretch to sprinkle some children in with the chorus? I am familiar with the basic story and songs, I just am not familiar with the script (and haven't seen the show) to know if that would work.

There's no reason that there couldn't be some kids in the
chorus (which is the palace court).

But the play IS about nothing much more than an unwed
mother, a lecherous king, and a court that is horny because 'no
one may wed 'til Dauntless shares his marriage bed.'

Though very very funny, it's not really kiddy material.

Thanks for the input. I'm still beating on a few people to get me the perusal script.

My motivation is not to have scads of children in the cast. Rather, I was thinking of the scenario where a cast member has an adolescent that we may throw into the chorus, and whether that would work out for the show.

it wouldn't hurt it

I don't think it would add anything - but it wouldn't hurt it
