The area in which I live has two main theatre companies. One that
produces traditional shows and one that's a tad leftist and
avant-garde. Aside from those two we have a fairly weel thriving high
school, community college and off-shoot productions. In an effort to
create a county-wide centralized source of information i've decided to
take it upon myself to put out a monthly newsletter and create a
website. The newsletter would have basic info of upcoming auditions and shows, general info. Who to contact to make a contribution financial or otherwise and maybe a guest article if I can keep em flowing. The website would have all of the same information and the articles would be archived. i'd also like to include local talent pics and bios, photos from shows, a techie section and so on. Now I know full well how to plan and execute a website. I have all the room I want with something like that. I've never made a newsletter though and had to be constricted to two sides of an 8 1/2 X 11 sheet of paper. Has anyone had this experience? Point me to a good newsletter program? Anything? |

I send out a newsletter for work I do mine in Microsoft Publisher and then make a PDF. Works well for me. I can then mail hard copies or e-mail. Good luck! |

I use Adobe Pagemaker 6.5. It works really well. Real newspapers use it so it is definately good! You can probably find it at a local computer store.

I volunteer with KC Stage Magazine, kind of along the same lines of what you're doing, although with the entire Kansas City region. You can't access current information on the website ( http://www.kcstage.com - www.kcstage.com ) without being a subscriber to the magazine, but you can access past information, including past issues, and join the e-mail discussion lists. We used to use PageMaker, and recently "graduated" to InDesign for layout of the magazine. You might also want to look into PhotoShop and/or Illustrator if you ever plan on putting in ads - for that's what our layout guy uses. Angie |
